Volunteer organizations throughout the nation are feeling the pinch of a lingering recession, with needs far outweighing available resources. The good news, however, is that despite all the additional stresses of a difficult economy, volunteers are still serving, according to new research at Volunteering in America (www.volunteeringinAmerica.gov). In fact, while charitable giving has declined, volunteering among adults actually increased slightly.
